SKM’s agitation against the Centre: Tractor march across the country on August 31, warning of a big fight on November 26
On August 31, 2025, the United Kisan Morcha (SKM) will celebrate Corporates Quit India Day across the country. On this day, a large number of tractor marches will also be taken out by the farmers. On August 31, farmers will take out tractor and motor vehicle marches and protest and burn the effigy of the central government, raising the slogan of Corporates Quit India. This announcement has been made by SKM. Apart from this, a warning has been given of a big struggle (movement) on November 26. On November 26, this movement will be done by SKM on the occasion of completion of five years of the historic farmers’ movement on the borders of Delhi.
SKM leaders said the agitation will be for legal guarantee of Minimum Support Price (MSP), implementation of MSP as per Swaminathan Commission recommendations, waiver of farmers’ loans, against privatisation, land acquisition cases and the proposed trade deal with the US.
All India Kisan Sabha (AIKS) leader Viju Krishnan said that 106 representatives of 37 farmers’ organizations from 12 states participated in the meeting held on Sunday. It was decided in the meeting that SKM will celebrate August 31 as Corporates Quit India Day across the country.
Raminder Singh Patiala of Kirti Kisan Union expressed concern over the land pooling policy in Punjab and the land acquisition happening across the country. He said that tractor and vehicle marches will be taken out on August 31. During this, effigies of US President Donald Trump and Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be burnt. Public meetings will be held from August 15 to November 26 and a big movement will be held on November 26.
Prem Singh Gehlawat of All India Kisan Mahasabha said that the trade agreement being made with America will be a death warrant for dairy farmers. This will harm both farmers and small industries (MSMEs). SKM said that this movement will be to warn the BJP-led NDA government at the Center, which is preparing to increase the import of food and dairy products under the pressure of America, allow GM foods and allow multinational companies to enter the Indian agricultural market.
SKM units in Punjab will hold tractor rallies in all districts on July 30 and a mahapanchayat on August 24 against the new land pooling policy of the AAP government. SKM has also demanded the lifting of the ban on 10-year-old tractors in the NCR region.
On the Bihar assembly elections, SKM has said that it will make the people there aware against the anti-farmer policies of the BJP. SKM will visit Bihar in September and a campaign will be launched to punish BJP-NDA. A detailed plan for this will be prepared by the Bihar committee of SKM.
