Saturday Dawn in North Carolina: SpaceX Starlink Mission Paints a Trail Across the Sky
Another SpaceX Starlink launch was visible in North Carolina Saturday morning, and many of you called/sent photos in to our newsroom.
The photo at the top of the article is from Esai Williams in Garner shortly before 5:30 Saturday morning. You can see the vivid streak across the sky.
How are you able to see something like this?
At the time of the launch, the sun was rising over the Atlantic Ocean. The launch happened along Florida’s Space Coast, and it was going eastward.
Due to the curvature of the Earth, the rising sun was able to illuminate the rocket’s vapor trails as it went up into the sky.
