Politics on Rath Yatra in Bengal: Mamata will distribute Prasad door to door, BJP raised questions, said- ‘Distribution of Halal’

Politics has heated up in West Bengal over religion and Mahaprabhu Jagannath Rath Yatra. When Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee made a move to distribute prasad from the Jagannath temple built on the lines of Puri in Digha, West Bengal, to more than one crore houses, the BJP has questioned the intention, while party leader Suvendu Adhikari has retaliated by announcing to distribute prasad from Puri Jagannath temple in his assembly constituency. The BJP has taunted that Mamata is distributing halal prasad. On April 30, CM Mamata Banerjee inaugurated the Jagannath temple built at a cost of 250 crores in Digha.

Fund of Rs 42 crore released for Prasad

On the occasion of the first Rath Yatra, the CM announced on Friday that Lord Jagannath’s Prasad will be delivered to every home. For this, a fund of Rs 42 crore was released and the government agency Hidco was given the responsibility of distributing the Prasad. There are preparations to distribute Prasad from government ration shops till July 4.

Attempt to stop polarization of Hindu votes

BJP has been accusing CM Mamata and her party TMC of Muslim appeasement for a long time. Due to this allegation, polarization of Hindu votes has been taking place. Resentment against Mamata has also been growing among a section of Hindus. Sources say that before the elections to be held next year, Mamata Banerjee wants to remove the tag of being anti-Hindu by BJP through distribution of prasad. In this effort, after the construction of the temple, now the bet of distribution of prasad has been played.

BJP state president and Union minister Sukanta Majumdar said that Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is making Digha temple a centre of politics, whereas it is a cultural centre. Mamata is distributing halal prasad, this is not acceptable. BJP alleges that prasad is being prepared from Muslim shops.
