India won the second Test against England by 336 runs on Sunday and leveled the five-match series 1-1. Chasing the impossible target of 608 runs, England’s second innings were all out at 271 runs in 68.1 overs. Wicketkeeper Jamie Smith scored the highest 88 runs. Fast bowler Akashdeep, who took four wickets in the first innings, took a six-wicket haul. He took six wickets for 99 runs in 21.1 overs. This is the first time he has taken five or more wickets in an innings.

England started the fifth and final day with a score of 72/3. England lost three wickets after scoring 71 runs till the lunch break. Captain Ben Stokes contributed 33 runs. Ollie Pope (25) could not add any runs to his innings on Sunday. At the same time, Harry Brook (23) added only 8 runs to his innings. England scored 118 runs in the second session and lost four wickets. The last player to be dismissed from England was Brydon Carse (38). On the fourth day, India declared the second innings at a score of 427/6 after a brilliant century by captain Shubman Gill (161). Gill (269) had scored a double century in the first innings. In response to India’s 587 runs, England’s first innings collapsed at 407 runs. India got a lead of 180 runs on the basis of the first innings.
