Atheist Krishna Passes at 23: The Meme‑King Who Got a Laugh from PM Modi

Popular Photoshop artist and content creator Atheist Krishna, who was known for his humour-driven memes, passed away due to pneumonia, leaving his followers in shock as condolences poured in from other influencers.

According to a social media user, Krishna had messaged him saying that he caught pneumonia, has water in his lungs and needs to be operated. “It would be a miracle if I survive this,” he said. On Wednesday, the user received a message from his brother, saying that Krishna had passed away.

“Woke up to the terrible news of @Atheist_Krishna passing away. He was one of the kindest people I met on this platform. On 10th July, he told me he was unwell and needs to be operated. He caught pneumonia,” the user said.

Atheist_Krishna was originally from Odisha, later based in Visakhapatnam and Hyderabad. He rose to popularity after a spoof video of Prime Minister Narendra Modi dancing on stage before the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, which was proudly shared by the Prime Minister himself on X.

“Like all of you, I also enjoyed seeing myself dance. Such creativity in peak poll season is truly a delight!

#PollHumour,” the Prime Minister wrote in his post on X.

PM Modi’s likeness was superimposed over the original video of American rapper Lil Yachty making a stage entrance. The video came shortly after a similar video featuring West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee led to the issuing of notices to the X users who shared the clips.

“Krishna was a brilliant mind. Among his many remarkable works, this one stood out – delivering its message with a gentle smile. Journey on, dear friend,” said author and political commentator Anand Ranganathan.

Krishna also received praise from Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar, saying his splendid work had brought smiles to people’s faces. Kumar encouraged him to continue his work with his clean humour. “I showed one of your memes to our Prime Minister Narendra Modi and he also had a hearty laugh… Keep bringing a smile on people’s face with your clean and honest humour. You will receive a lot of blessings. Keep it up,” Kumar said.

Overwhelmed, Krishna had captioned the post, “WOOOOOW!!!! This is the best thing that happened to me on Twitter. Thank you @akshaykumar Sir.”

Several celebrities and influencers on social media mourned the loss of the photoshop artist and expressed their condolences.

“The timeline feels emptier today! @Atheist_Krishna wasn’t just a master of visual satire, he was emotion wrapped in sarcasm and humour. His Photoshop jokes made us smile and laugh, but his silence today leaves a void. You’ll be missed, Krishna. Om Shanti,” said actress and BJP leader Rupali Ganguly.
