IND vs PAK match cancelled, WCL had to bow down to the stubbornness of Indian players

After veteran Indian players like Shikhar Dhawan, Harbhajan Singh boycotted the match against Pakistan in the World Championship of Legends, this match has been canceled. WCL made its official announcement on social media platform X. This WCL match between India and Pakistan was to be played today i.e. on Sunday, July 20. After the Pahalgam attack in April, India has decided not to play cricket against Pakistan at any level. The situation between the two countries remains tense, so Indian players refused to participate in this match.

WCL wrote in its official statement, “We at WCL have always valued and loved cricket, and our sole aim is to give fans some good, happy moments. After hearing the news that Pakistan Hockey team is visiting India this year, and after watching the recent India vs Pakistan Volleyball match and a few other matches of different sports between the two countries, we thought of continuing with India vs Pakistan matches in WCL – to create some happy memories for people around the world.”

But in the process we may have hurt and offended the sentiments of many. More than that, we inadvertently inconvenienced our Indian cricket legends who have brought so much glory to the country, and we also impacted brands who had supported us purely out of love for the game.

So we have decided to cancel the India vs Pakistan match. We once again sincerely apologise for the hurt sentiments and hope people understand that we simply wanted to bring some happy moments to the fans.”

Let us tell you, Shikhar Dhawan has officially announced that he will not play the match against Pakistan. He shared a post on Instagram and wrote, “I stand by the step I took on 11th May. My country is everything to me, and nothing is greater than my country.”

There are reports that apart from Shikhar Dhawan, Harbhajan Singh, Irfan Pathan, Suresh Raina and Yusuf Pathan also do not want to be a part of this match.

India has selected 15 players for this tournament, so if 5 players do not play, then it will not be possible to make a playing XI with 10 players.
